The Real de Minas Hotel is a charming Colonial-Spanish construction. The 10 quaint guest rooms are built around a central courtyard, complete with a running, hand-carved masonry fountain. It’s price makes it a favorite with backpackers and motorcycle groups. There is a small library for guests that contains booklets about the history of Batopilas and the old silver mines. You’ll also find a small selection of books in different languages that can be borrowed or exchanged by guests during your stay. The Real de Minas has grown considerably in the past years and has been expanded further to include another courtyard with more rooms. Casa Estefania is another annex of the Real de Minas. It sits across the street, catty-corner, from the original hotel. Casa Estefania has some private rooms with private baths as well as dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms for those that are budget conscious. If you are interested in a dormitory rather than private room and bath, please make sure you mention this when you make your reservation.
