Copper Canyon Riverside Lodge
The Copper Canyon Riverside Lodge is located just off the main square in Batopilas village at the bottom of the Copper Canyon. This lodge falls under the specialty hotel category and is a boutique-style hotel. Once the privately owned home of the Bigler family in the 1800’s, it was converted to a hotel back in the early 90’s and covers an entire block. The Copper Canyon Riverside Lodge boasts private gardens, hand painted murals and is filled with antiques. Each of the 14 guest rooms have antique beds and the inconvenient luxury of claw foot bathtubs.
Fanciful Moorish style doorways and windows will make you feel as though you’ve entered another world. Relax in one of the several courtyards, guest rooms that feature hand painted stencils, cozy bedding or shady patios. Interested in learning more about the silver mining history in Batopilas? Feel free to browse through the old books, antique records, and booklets from the silver mining days and relive the past. Your host, Martin, serves a continental breakfast every morning that includes a variety of fresh fruits right off our own trees, home-baked breads and coffee or tea.
He can also introduce you to the local guides who can offer you a wide wide selection of daytime adventures ranging from relaxed to really really challenging. Batopilas at the end of the Soaring Eagle Highway, on the tropical floor of the Copper Canyon is hub of countless trails, and the the local of the Hacienda San Miguel and the lost Mission of Satevo.
